General Questions

Q. EEI Training is now The Business University?
A. That’s correct! As of February 2014, EEI’s Training Division was spun-off into a new organization called The Business University – to focus solely on training development. The Business University kept the same core strengths from EEI’s Training division, and then made it even better! Take one of our courses and you’ll notice the difference.
Q. What kind of computers do you use?
A. The Business University uses both Mac and PC/Windows environments through all-in-one iMacs.
Q. How large are the classes?
A. Classes usually have 12 or fewer students, but we evaluate on a per class basis.  If some classes have too many students then we may change it to two instructors.
Q. Do I get follow-up support from The Business University?
A. As a student in one of our training courses, you’ll receive three months of free telephone or e-mail support on the material covered in your class. If you’re stuck, we’ll help you get back on track. Just call our Training Coordinators at 202-556-0822(DC Metro), and we will facilitate everything.
Q. How can I find out if I’ve already earned part of a certificate?
A. Send an e-mail to contact@thebizu.com. We’ll research your course history and let you know how close you are to earning a certificate.
Q. Do The Business University classes earn CEUs?
A. Yes. You can use CEUs (Continuing Education Units) for career advancement or as evidence of increased professional competence. After each workshop, participants receive a certificate stating the number of CEUs they have earned.
Q. Is The Business University Training on the GSA Schedule?
A. Yes. The Business University’s GSA contract number is GS-00F-0084N (under EEI Communications – the previous name). Federal agencies that purchase The Business University Training classes on the GSA Schedule are eligible for favorable tuition rates. Please indicate on your registration that you are purchasing off the GSA Schedule. The appropriate GSA Schedule rate will be applied to your registration.

Registration Questions

Q. How can I find out if there are seats left in a class or get more information on classes?
A. Call us at 202-556-0822. We will be able to handle your call most quickly between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.  Alternatively, if you can register on our website, then there are seats available for the particular class session.
Q. How do I register for a class?
A. You can register online through our Web site’s courses or call our Training Coordinators at 202-556-0822.You may pay using a credit card, a purchase order (subject to approval by The Business University), or a check. Please note that payment is due at the time of registration to secure your seat. Until we receive payment (excluding some government organizations), you will be placed on a “tentative list,” and your seat may be given to another student. Please contact us if your government agency requires different arrangements through invoices.  Payments must be processed 48 hours before the start of class unless arrangements are made prior to the class session.  Once registered, all registrants are responsible for the full-payment.
Q. What if I have a special need?
A. If you require special accommodations to fully participate in our classes, please attach a written explanation to your registration form. A staff member with The Business University will call you. Please give us as much advance notice as you can and we will try to arrange reasonable accommodation in the time available. Accommodations for those who do not submit a request with the registration form cannot be guaranteed. If The Business University contracts for interpreters or any other vendors on the basis of your request and you cancel fewer than five business days before the class, you will be responsible for the cost of the interpreters or other vendors.
Q. Will I receive a confirmation of my registration?
A. We will email confirmations to students who registered that day. If for some reason your did not receive your confirmation, please call our Training Coordinators at 202-556-0822 or email us at registrations@thebizu.com.
Q. What if my company needs an invoice in order to pay?
A. Please call our Training Coordinators at 202-556-0822. We would be happy to email/fax an invoice to your company.
Q. What happens if I need to cancel?
A. All cancellations must be in writing at least 5 business days prior to the class session date for a full refund.  If you cancel fewer than five business days before your class or fail to show up the day of class, you will not receive a refund and will be responsible for the full tuition.
Q. What happens if I change to another session?
A. All rescheduling requests must be completed at least 5 business days prior to the class session date.  If rescheduling requests are made within the 5 business days, a rescheduling fee of $50 will be assessed.
Q. Can I substitute a co-worker in my place if I can’t attend?
A. Yes. Just make sure that the student has met the class prerequisites. Please call us or have the person call us 24 hours before the class starts so we can change the registration and the certificate. There is no fee for a co-worker substitution.
Q. Can a co-worker take my space in a different class?
A. Yes, with five days’ notice.  If the tuition for the new class is more than that of the old class, your company will have to prepay the difference.
Q. What if I need to take my class on another date?
A. Please call us at least five days ahead of the class date.   If rescheduling requests are made within the 5 business days, a rescheduling fee of $50 will be assessed.  Otherwise, you will be charged the full tuition.

Day of Class

Q. What is the snow or inclement weather cancellation policy?
A. The Business University follows the federal government closing policy.  If the federal government is closed, we will not have any classes that day.  Additionally, if the federal government has a delayed openings, we will not have any classes that day.
Q. How should I dress?
A. Casually; we want you to be comfortable when you’re learning!
Q. How early may I arrive?
A. Our classes start at 9 a.m.  Our offices open at 8:00 a.m. with coffee and tea available.
Q. What are the class hours?
A. Daytime classes run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Q. Is there anything I should know about parking my car?
A. There is street parking and a parking garage under the building 1940 Duke Street, Alexandria, VA 22314. The garage entrance is located on Jamieson Street behind the building.  You can get GPS directions to our building and the garage entrance (via Google Maps) onour Location page.  After parking, take the nearest elevator to the Second Floor (Suite 200).  Parking is $10.00 per day.  Alternative street parking is available on Dulany and Jaimeson Streets. Please be aware of any maximum time limits for street parking.
Q. Are you Metro Accessible?
A. Our building is just a few blocks from the King Street Metro Station in Alexandria.  Take Metro’s Blue or Yellow Lines to King Street Metro Station. Our offices are approximately 2 blocks away.  After exiting the metro, make a right (SW) up the hill.  Cross the street using the under-pass walk-way and 1940 Duke Street will be on your left.
Q. What if my company needs to reach me during the day?
A. Have them call the main number of the campus and we will give you the message at break time. In an emergency, we will bring the message to you in class.
Q. What about lunch?
A. The Business University enjoys the BYOL (Bring Your Own Lunch) lifestyle NOW PROVIDES LUNCH!!!  We have different lunches catered each day and we believe they’re delicious!
Q. What happens if I cancel the day of class?
A. You will be responsible for the full tuition.

Q. Does The Business University offer custom classes?
A. Yes. If you need specialized training at our location, or if your company has a training facility and prefers that our top-notch instructors come on-site, we would be happy to design a custom class around your needs. Just call 202-556-0822 and ask for “Custom Training.”
