Course Description

If your job is to find mistakes, this is the course for you. The word “editor” may not appear in your job title, but you have to edit documents that you review, transcribe, or write. In the Editorial Skills for Non-Editors course, learn to refine your proofreading technique.  Learn the editorial skills to succeed in your job!

Topics include:

  • Core punctuation and grammar rules
  • Agreement difficulties (subject-verb and pronoun-antecedent)
  • Parallelism, modifiers, restrictive and nonrestrictive clauses
  • Usage problems, such as imply/infer
  • Consistency and style
  • Proofreading symbols
